As-Salam

1. Explanation of the Name

As‑Salām comes from the root س‑ل‑م (S‑L‑M), meaning “peace,” “safety,” and “security.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Source of Peace, whose very essence is free from all defects and who bestows tranquility to hearts.

As‑Salām grants protection from harm, shelters believers in this life and the Hereafter, and establishes harmony wherever His remembrance is present.

As‑Salām appears among Allah’s Names in the Qur’an to remind us of His perfect peace and purity.

“He is Allah; there is no deity except Him, The Sovereign, The Pure, The Source of Peace (As‑Salām), the Granter of Security, the Guardian…”
