Al-Quddus


1. Explanation of the Name

Al‑Quddūs comes from the root ق‑د‑س (Q‑D‑S), meaning “pure,” “holy,” and “free from all imperfection.” This Name declares that Allah is The Most Holy, exalted above any deficiency, and utterly pure in His essence and actions.

As The Holy One, He is free from any flaw or need. His sanctity transcends all creation, and nothing can diminish His perfect purity.


2. About This Name

Al‑Quddūs appears in the Qur’an to remind believers of Allah’s absolute purity and transcendence.

“Whatever is in the heavens and earth exalts Allah—the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”
