الْكَرِيمُ

Al-Karim

1. Explanation of the Name

Al‑Karīm comes from the root ك‑ر‑م (K‑R‑M), meaning “to be generous,” “to honor,” and “to bestow nobility.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Most Generous, The Bountiful, whose generosity knows no bounds and whose favors overflow upon His creation.

As The Generous Provider, He bestows blessings, forgiveness, and honor far beyond what His servants deserve, granting bounty both in this life and the Hereafter.

2. About This Name

Al‑Karīm appears in the Qur’an to remind us that Allah’s generosity is limitless and that He honors those who show gratitude and righteousness.

“Say, ‘Who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Or who controls hearing and sight and who brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and who arranges [every] matter?’ They will say, ‘Allah,’ so say, ‘Then will you not fear Him?’”
— Qur’an 10 : 31

Recognizing Allah as Al‑Karīm inspires us to trust in His abundant provision and to emulate His generosity in our own lives.

3. Spiritual Reflection

Reflecting on Al‑Karīm invites us to cultivate generosity—sharing our resources, time, and kindness with others as a reflection of His bounty.

“And whatever you spend of good – it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.”
— Qur’an 2 : 272
