اللَّهُ

Allah

1. Explanation of the Name

Allāh (ٱللّٰهُ) is the unique, proper Name of the One True Divine. It comes from the same root as “Ilāh” (إِلَٰه), meaning “the One worthy of worship,” prefixed with “Al-” to signify “The God” — truly singular and incomparable.

As The Absolute, He is the Source of all existence, the Creator, Sustainer, and Master of the heavens and the earth.

2. About This Name

Allāh is mentioned throughout the Qur’an over 2,500 times. Every chapter (except one) begins with “Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm” – “In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.”

“Indeed, your Lord is Allāh, who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne…”
— Qur’an 7 : 54

Invoking Allāh reminds us that every act of worship, every prayer, and every good deed is ultimately directed to Him alone.

3. Spiritual Reflection

Reflecting on Allāh grounds us in His oneness (Tawḥīd) — that no partner shares in His divinity or attributes.

“And your God is one God. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.”
— Qur’an 2 : 163
Reflection prompt:
In your moments of doubt or ease, softly repeat “Lā ilāha illā Allāh” — “There is no god but Allāh” — to reaffirm His singular majesty and your reliance upon Him.
Action step:
Choose one routine action today (e.g., eating, working, resting) and consciously begin it with the intention “for Allāh” to deepen your mindfulness of His presence.
