الْوَارِثُ

Al-Warith

1. Explanation of the Name

Al-Wārith (ٱلْوَارِثُ) comes from the root و-ر-ث (W-R-Ṯ), meaning “to inherit,” “to succeed,” and “to receive in due course.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Ultimate Heir, who inherits all that remains when creation perishes.

As The One Who Remains When Everything Else Ends, He is the Everlasting and possesses all glory, wisdom, and sovereignty forever.

2. About This Name

Al-Wārith reminds us that after all passes away—wealth, power, life—only Allah endures and receives the legacy of all that exists.

“And all things will perish except His Face. His is the judgment, and to Him you will be returned.”
— Qur’an 28 : 88

Invoking Al-Wārith reassures us that our efforts in this life are entrusted to Him, and that He alone holds final ownership of every soul and every realm.

3. Spiritual Reflection

Reflecting on Al-Wārith encourages us to invest in what truly lasts—good deeds, faith, and compassion—knowing Allah preserves their reward.

“Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”
— Qur’an 2 : 255
Reflection prompt:
Contemplate what you will leave behind in this world. Whisper “Yā Wārith” and envision Allah inheriting your deeds.
Action step:
Choose one lasting act—charity, knowledge-sharing, or sincere prayer—and commit to it as your legacy to be preserved by Allah.
