الْبَاقِي

Al-Baqi

1. Explanation of the Name

Al-Bāqī (ٱلْبَاقِي) comes from the root ب-ق-ي (B-Q-Y), meaning “to remain,” “to endure,” and “to persist.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Everlasting, whose existence continues when all else perishes.

As The One Who Remains, He alone is eternal, beyond beginning and end, and His sovereignty never declines.

2. About This Name

Al-Bāqī is rooted in the promise that while the universe will fade, Allah’s existence and mercy endure forever.

“He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.”
— Qur’an 57 : 3

Invoking Al-Bāqī reassures us that our trust placed in Him is secure, for He never changes nor ceases to uphold His creation.

3. Spiritual Reflection

Reflecting on Al-Bāqī encourages us to orient our hearts toward what lasts—faith, good deeds, and remembrance of Allah.

“And the enduring word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
— Qur’an 6 : 115
Reflection prompt:
Consider what in your life is temporary versus what you will carry into the hereafter. Whisper “Yā Bāqī” and feel the permanence of Allah’s presence.
Action step:
Today, invest time in a lasting practice—such as prayer, charity, or Quranic study—and remind yourself that these endowments persist beyond this life.
