Al-Wahhab


1. Explanation of the Name

Al‑Wahhāb comes from the root و‑ه‑ب (W‑H‑B), meaning “to give freely,” “to grant,” and “to bestow.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Supreme Giver, who lavishes endless bounties upon His creation without measure.

As The Generous Bestower, He grants provisions, talents, guidance, and blessings—both seen and unseen—to whomever He wills, purely out of His boundless generosity.


2. About This Name

Al‑Wahhāb appears in the Qur’an to remind us that every gift we enjoy springs from His inexhaustible generosity.

“And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them…”
— Qur’an 7 : 180

Knowing Allah as Al‑Wahhāb inspires gratitude and reliance: we acknowledge every blessing—big or small—as a direct gift from the Most Generous.
