الْخَافِضُ

Al-Khafid

1. Explanation of the Name

Al‑Khāfid comes from the root خ‑ف‑ض (KH‑F‑D), meaning “to lower,” “to humble,” and “to abase.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Abaser of Pride, who humbles the arrogant and exalts the humble according to His divine justice.

As The One Who Lowers and Raises, He withholds honor from those who pride themselves and grants dignity to the meek, teaching us true humility.

2. About This Name

Al‑Khāfid appears in the Qur’an paired with Al‑Rāfiʿ to remind us of Allah’s balance in honoring and humbling His creation.

“And Allah lowers the arrogant by His decree to the lowest depths…”
— Qur’an 14 : 27

Recognizing this Name calls us to examine our own pride and seek humility, trusting Allah’s wisdom in raising or lowering hearts as He wills.

3. Spiritual Reflection
