Al-Kabir


1. Explanation of the Name

Al‑Kabīr comes from the root ك‑ب‑ر (K‑B‑R), meaning “to be great,” “to be vast,” and “to be magnificent.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Most Great, whose greatness and majesty encompass all things and exceed every measure.

As The Supreme in Grandeur, His presence fills the heavens and the earth; every manifestation of greatness ultimately reflects His infinite glory.


2. About This Name

Al‑Kabīr appears in the Qur’an to remind us of Allah’s unrivaled greatness and the grandeur of His creation.

“He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior, the Most Generous, the Forgiving, the Responsive, the Majestic, the Most Great (Al‑Kabīr), the Preserver of Faith, the Preserver of Safety…”
