الْبَاعِثُ

Al-Baʿith

1. Explanation of the Name

Al‑Bāʾith comes from the root ب‑ع‑ث (B‑ʿ‑TH), meaning “to raise,” “to revive,” and “to resurrect.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Resurrector, who brings the dead back to life on the Day of Judgment and renews all creation by His command.

As The One Who Raises the Dead, His power over life and death is absolute—He revives the earth after its lifeless state and will resurrect every soul for recompense.

2. About This Name

Al‑Bāʾith appears in the Qur’an to remind us of Allah’s authority over life and death and the certainty of resurrection.

“And the Horn will be blown; that is the Day of [carrying out] the threat. And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness.”
— Qur’an 50 : 20–21
