الْمَجِيدُ

Al-Majid (variant)

1. Explanation of the Name

As-Ṣabūr (ٱلصَّبُورُ) comes from the root ص-ب-ر (Ṣ-B-R), meaning “to endure,” “to persevere,” and “to show patience.” This Name proclaims that Allah is The Ever-Patient, whose forbearance encompasses every fault and every weakness in His creation.

As The One Who Bears All with Perfect Patience, He never hastens punishment but grants time for repentance and growth.

2. About This Name

As-Ṣabūr appears in the Qur’an to remind us that Allah’s mercy is vast and His patience is unfailing.

“And your Lord is Forgiving and Full of Mercy, if He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. But for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.”
— Qur’an 18 : 58

Invoking As-Ṣabūr reassures us that our mistakes do not exhaust His mercy, and that He grants us space to return to Him.

3. Spiritual Reflection

Reflecting on As-Ṣabūr encourages us to cultivate patience in our own lives—toward trials, toward others, and toward ourselves.

“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”
— Qur’an 2 : 153
