الْعَزِيزُ

Al-ʿAziz

1. Explanation of the Name

Al‑Azīz comes from the root ع‑ز‑ز (ʿ‑Z‑Z), meaning “mighty,” “powerful,” and “invincible.” This Name affirms that Allah’s strength is absolute—no force can overcome Him, and His power sustains the heavens and the earth.

As The Almighty, He exercises His might with perfect wisdom and justice. Every decree, every change in creation, occurs only by His irresistible will.

2. About This Name

Al‑Azīz appears in the Qur’an to remind us of Allah’s unmatched authority and power.

“… He is the Sovereign, the Pure, the Source of Peace, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might (Al‑Azīz), the All‑Aware.”
— Qur’an 59 : 23

Recognizing Allah as Al‑Azīz gives us confidence that no challenge is beyond His capability. We submit to His will, knowing He holds all power and wisdom.

3. Spiritual Reflection

Reflecting on Al‑Azīz strengthens our trust: no hardship can prevail against His might, and every victory belongs to Him alone.

“And Allah is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”
— Qur’an 2 : 255
